Client: Anafore ( owners of ReferralCandy and CandyBar)

Creating a tool to help small businesses compete

Project: CandyBar was designed as an accessible, competitive loyalty tool for small brick and mortar stores around the world to reward their customers without extensive upfront costs or complex records.

Brief: Manage, Research and design the new Candybar product through it’s development cycle and going forward

Role: Lead Designer / Senior Interaction Designer

Timing: Jan 2016 - October 2016 ( 2 week sprints )

1. Research Outcomes

Bringing my knowledge from IDEO, I worked with our Design Lead Aditi to marry her extensive quantitive research knowledge with my deep experience around qualitative design research to create a people-led, data validated research routine that involved every department across the company.

2. Design Outcomes

I led a team of 2 part-time designers in researching, designing and prototyping around our lower-income brick and mortar customers.

CandyBar was true from the ground product development, where our small design team took on all roles, including product shots, installing devices, customer service alongside our constant 2-week design sprint iterations.

3. Product Outcomes

We took CandyBar from 4 customers in it’s early stages to an international, 1500 strong product that supported small businesses. By Nature of the team size and lean approach, I worked to develop new skills for myself and the team to fill in the gaps we were missing. Product photography, Marketing site development and even event management for our multiple launch events.
